Lakes Zoning Amendment (CSRD) Bylaw No. 900-25
Lakes Zoning Bylaw No. 900 was adopted on August 16, 2012 and applies to Shuswap, Mara, Adams, White, Little White, Hunakwa and Humamilt Lakes. This bylaw was introduced in response to public concerns regarding docks and private mooring buoys being placed in the Shuswap Lake system. The maximum permitted size of a dock in foreshore residential zones was set at 24 m2 to match the maximum dock size allowed by the Province at that time. In the last few years changes were made by the Province which increased the maximum size for a dock. These changes apply to both freshwater and marine docks over the entire province. In response to the provincial changes there has been interest in increasing the maximum dock size allowed under Bylaw No. 900.
At the August 16, 2018 Board Meeting, Development Services staff presented Lakes Zoning Amendment (CSRD) Bylaw No. 900-25 to the Board of Directors. Development Services staff is proposing to amend the Lakes Zoning Bylaw No. 900 (Bylaw No. 900) by:
- Increasing the total upward facing surface area of a dock to 30 m2 (This does not include a walkway);
- Increasing the maximum width of any portion of a floating or fixed dock surface to 3.05 m; and,
- Increasing the maximum width of any portion of a permanent or removable walkway surface to 1.52 m.
