Recreation Facility closures in Golden

Friday, November 27, 2020

The Town of Golden, in consultation with the CSRD, is temporarily suspending operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CSRD is the owner of the Golden & District Recreation Centre, with the Town contracted to operate the facility.

Read the message from the Town of Golden below:

Our top priority continues to be the health, safety, and well-being of the public and our employees. We have made the difficult decision to temporarily cease operations of the Golden & District Arena and the Mount 7 Rec Plex effective immediately until Monday, Dec. 7. This includes the cancellation of all Town of Golden drop-in programming and all sport user group activities operating under a cohort model.

This closure comes after consulting with local physicians, Interior Health and user groups about safety and operational concerns related to COVID-19, and follows a number of user groups making the decision to cancel rentals due to concerns within their cohorts.

Individuals who have already registered for drop-in programs and user groups will be contacted directly to let them know about the temporary facility closures.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community as we all work together to keep Golden safe. Let’s all continue to do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wear a mask;
  • Wash/sanitize your hands;
  • Maintain physical distancing;
  • Stay home if you’re sick;
  • Don’t travel outside of your community unless it’s essential; and
  • No events or social gatherings with anyone outside your household or core bubble (if you live alone)
