While most teens were in their hometown classrooms, Gray Simms recently spent his time learning the ins and outs of local government from some of the BC's biggest political bigwigs at the province's largest municipal convention.
Simms, a Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) Electoral Area D student attending Salmon Arm Secondary, participated in the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) convention in Whistler under a partnership program with the Southern Interior Local Government Association (SILGA). The CSRD's Electoral Area D Director, Rene Talbot, acted as his mentor for the event, which entailed a series of speaking sessions and a chance for local politicians to meet with high-level provincial ministers to discuss various concerns.
