The CSRD Board voted unanimously to adopt two bylaws that would extend dog control service, without dog licensing, to the entirety of Electoral Area D. This area includes Falkland, Silver Creek, Ranchero, Deep Creek, Gardom Lake and the Salmon Valley.

An Evacuation Alert has been issued by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) at the Shuswap Emergency Program’s Emergency Operations Centre. The White Rock Lake wildfire is growing and may pose a danger near the boundary of the CSRD’s Electoral Area D. As a precautionary measure and due to the potential danger to life, health or property, the Evacuation Alert has been expanded to include approximately 56 residences in the following areas:

The Evacuation Order issued by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District through the Shuswap Emergency Program due to the danger to life safety caused by a wildfire burning near White Rock Lake is hereby partially rescinded effective Monday, August 9, 2021 at 1700 Hours. 

Fire Update for August 9

White Rock Lake - 55700 ha

With the current weather conditions, the fire has mostly stalled with no significant growth in size or direction overnight. There continues to be moderate growth in active areas on the north, northeast, and southeast flanks.

The helicopter fleet includes a Sikorsky 64 SkyCrane helicopter, which has a 2,650-gallon tank that is fillable in less than one-minute. There are also four Kamov heavy helicopters in the fleet. Additional air support is available and will be utilized as required, should conditions allow.

August 7, 18:30 Hours

The opportunity to get a Temporary Access Permit to go into the Evacuation ORDER area in Falkland has now passed as of 18:30 Hours (6:30 PM).

All those in the Evacuation ORDER area are required to be out of the area by 19:00 Hours (7 PM).

Please respect the ORDER provisions and leave the area.

No one will be allowed past the road blocks after 7 PM today, August 7, until BC Wildfire says it is safe to do so. Please monitor our website for any additional information. 

August 6 - 13:30 Hours

The opportunity to get a Temporary Access Permit to go into the Evacuation ORDER area in Falkland has now passed as of 13:30 Hours (1:30 PM).

All those in the Evacuation ORDER area are required to be out of the area by 14:00 Hours (2 PM).

Please respect the ORDER provisions and leave the area.

No one will be allowed past the road blocks after 2 PM today, August 6, until BC Wildfire says it is safe to do so. Please monitor our website for any additional information.
