District of Sicamous
The Evacuation Alert issued by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District through the Shuswap Emergency Program for properties in the District of Sicamous due to a wildfire burning near Two Mile Creek is hereby rescinded effective Friday, August 20, 2021 at 12:00 Hours.
All properties in the rescind area are now ALL CLEAR of restrictions. The areas now downgraded to ALL CLEAR status are as follows:

With the current weather conditions, the fire has mostly stalled with no significant growth in size or direction overnight. There continues to be moderate growth in active areas on the north, northeast, and southeast flanks.
The helicopter fleet includes a Sikorsky 64 SkyCrane helicopter, which has a 2,650-gallon tank that is fillable in less than one-minute. There are also four Kamov heavy helicopters in the fleet. Additional air support is available and will be utilized as required, should conditions allow.
The Ministry of Transportation and Highways confirms the reopening of Highway 97A in both directions between Emeny Road and Sicamous Creek Frontage Road at noon (12 PM) on August 5, 2021.

All homes in the rescind area revert to Evacuation Alert status and residents must remain ready to leave their homes again on short notice.

The Sicamous Landfill will be closed starting tomorrow, July 30, 2021 until further notice. The District of Sicamous is providing a temporary garbage disposal option at the Sicamous Curling Club located at 1121 Eagle Pass Way for household garbage only. Residents are being asked to limit garbage to bagged household materials - no bulky or large items.
The Sicamous Bottle and Recycling Depot is open as per their normally posted hours of operation.
