Effective Wednesday, July 16, 2014, campfires are now prohibited throughout the entire Kamloops Fire Centre area. To report a violation of the campfire ban, please call 1.844.676.8477. For further information, please visit the Wildfire Management Branch website at www.bcwildfire.ca.
The Shuswap Emergency Program is hosting an Emergency Preparedness Expose on Sunday June 22 at the Salmon Arm Airport, during the Airport Appreciation Day, hosted by the Shuswap Flying Club. Events include a pancake breakfast, fly-ins, scenic flights, rapattack demo and jaws of life demonstration by the Salmon Arm Rescue Unit. The Expose's focus is on personal and family emergency preparedness including how to protect your home from wildfire by implemetation of firesmart principals.
Effective at noon on Sunday, June 15, 2014, open burning was banned througout the entire Kamloops Fire Centre Area, which includes the Salmon Arm Fire Zone area. This is to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect the
public. There are currently no campfire bans in effect for the Kamloops Fire Centre.
