The Hazardous Waste Depot is open on Saturdays only for drop off.

Landfill Upgrading

In 2020, the CSRD engaged Golder Associates Ltd. to prepare a report examining options and associated costs/tipping fees for various scenarios associated with the Golden Landfill. 

CSRD staff will be providing the Town of Golden Council an overview of the report at an upcoming council meeting on August 18, 2020 and intends on hosting a public meeting to discuss options for the Golden landfill in the fall of 2020, COVID-19 restrictions permitting.

Monitoring

The CSRD conducts regular water sampling and water quality testing at all of its landfill sites. The Summer 2020 project is now complete. View the Water Quality Results September 2020 (PDF).

Background

In 2019, the CSRD hired Golder Associates Ltd., an environmental engineering firm specializing in landfill design and management, to provide the following documents for the Golden Landfill:

• Design, Operation, and Closure Plan Update (PDF)
• Landfill Monitoring Plan Update (PDF)
• Landfill Conformance Review Report (PDF)

These documents were submitted to the Ministry of Environment for approval. The CSRD received the Ministry's approval with conditions on May 4, 2020.
