Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) Director and City of Salmon Arm Councillor Kevin Flynn will continue to act as Chair of the Board following a vote of the elected officials at the November 16 Regular Board Meeting.
Flynn is a long-serving Director representing the City of Salmon Arm on the CSRD Board. He is experienced in the role, having been elected for his first term as Board Chair in November 2019.
“Nothing’s constant in life besides change and this Board and organization have had a significant year of change. We’ve had a new Board, a new Electoral Area, changes in staff and are dealing with the largest disaster in the CSRD’s history. I appreciate the Board giving me the support to continue to try and manage that change,” said Flynn.
Flynn indicated his priorities include supporting CSRD staff, continuing with wildfire recovery efforts and developing a Code of Conduct for the Board.
Electoral Area G (Blind Bay, Sorrento, Notch Hill) Director Natalya Melnychuk was voted in as Vice-Chair. Melnychuk started her term as first-time CSRD Director in November 2022. This will be her first time as Vice-Chair.
The Board also voted to adopt the meeting schedule for 2024 with regular Board sessions generally set for the third Thursday of each month. There are two exceptions:
- The September Board meeting is moved to Thursday, September 12, 2024, due to the Union of BC Municipalities convention,
- The December Board meeting is moved to Friday, December 13, 2024.
The complete 2024 meeting schedule will be posted on the CSRD website and dates will also be scheduled on the CSRD website’s meeting calendar. The final CSRD Board meeting of 2023 will be held Friday, December 8.
Citizens continue to be welcome to attend Board meetings in person at the CSRD office in Salmon Arm. In addition, the CSRD offers live streaming of the meeting for the public on Zoom. Recordings of the meetings are also made available on the CSRD website for approximately 30 days following the meeting.
