The Revelstoke Landfill will no longer accept septic waste for disposal, effective immediately and for the remainder of 2023.
Under the Ministry of Environment’s operational certificate for the Revelstoke Landfill, the CSRD is only authorized to accept 1,000 tonnes of septic waste per year.
Based on recent inspections and scale tonnage reports, staff have determined the facility has met the maximum limit for 2023. As such, the CSRD is no longer authorized to accept any additional septage until 2024.
Residents should be aware that while septage disposal at the Revelstoke Landfill will resume in 2024, it is for a one-year term only and subject to authorization limits.
Effective January 1, 2025, the Revelstoke Landfill will no longer be allowed to accept any septic waste for disposal and, as such, the service is being discontinued.
The possibility of a temporary service disruption in 2023 and the plans for the cancellation of the service in 2025 were presented to the public in July 2023. This to allow users in Revelstoke and Electoral Area B to find alternative options for disposal of their septic waste both in the short and long-term.
Questions related to the authorization of septic waste disposal at the Revelstoke Landfill need to be directed to the Ministry of Environment at 250-371-6200.
