Do you have structure loss?

  • Have you been in contact with the CSRD? We need to hear from all people who believe they lost a structure. Please call 250-833-3350 so we can contact you for a tour of the area.

Emergency order downgrades to come

Evacuation orders have been in place for a long time, and we hear your concerns each day they continue.

The areas that remain under evacuation are no longer due to active wildfire, but damage left behind due to the extreme fire which passed through much of the area.

The damage within the fire area includes roads, bridges, down trees and hydro poles, danger trees, loss of phone and internet lines as well as communications towers and lost structures including a fire department.

Crews have been working weeks to repair the damage and we are getting close to a point which most areas will be able to return.

*Prior to orders being lifted, access for those who lost structures will be completed.*

It is likely residents will see a staged return, with one order lifted at a time.

Structure Loss
More details on plans to provide access residents who have experienced property loss or damaged through the affected area will be announced on Sunday, September 3, 2023. If you believe your property may be damaged by wildfire, please call us at 250-833-3350 or email [email protected] so you can participate.

Property owners can search for their address at this site, to see if there is structure loss:

Barge access and Whitehead Boat Launch

Whitehead Boat Launch on Whitehead Road is closed from 8 AM to 5 PM to accommodate the barge transfer of supplies to Anglemont and St. Ives.

Please remember, if you want to go across to Anglemont on the barge, you must have a reservation. DO NOT show up at the boat launch and expect you will be able to cross.

People need to make a reservation at least 24 hours ahead prior to a departure time they wish to have. We are not able to accommodate vehicles with trailers.

Demand is high and most of the time slots for the long weekend are already full. We ask for your patience and kindness during this challenging time.
To request a reservation, use this online form:

Information briefing changes for the weekend
A video briefing including the BC Wildfire Service is scheduled for 2 PM on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

There will not be a video briefing on Monday, September 4, 2023. Written briefing information will be compiled for that day. Updates will be posted to the CSRD and Shuswap Emergency Program website and social media.

Weather and Fire Conditions

There may be more smoke moving into the region from the North, adding to the current local smoke conditions. Showers are predicted for Sunday, which will continue to dampen fire behaviour and allow firefighters to work on direct attack and guard creation. There has been no significant growth on the Bush Creek East wildfire in the past 24 hours.
