Shuswap Emergency Program Update - August 22, 2023 at 8 PM

 Evacuation ORDER
 
An Evacuation Order means you are at risk. Leave the area immediately. Remaining in an area on Evacuation Order places you and firefighters at risk. RCMP and security continue to conduct patrols.

Emergency Support Services
 
The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) will assist you in safely leaving the area. Please register with Emergency Support Services at ess.gov.bc.ca or call 250-833-3360. The ESS Reception Centre is open at the 5th Avenue Seniors Activity Centre at 170-5th Avenue SE. 

Wildfire Information Briefing 
 
You can view a video update with BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) and Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) that was recorded on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 2 PM: https://youtu.be/XBICKB2Pdlw The video update provides detailed information about the status of the Bush Creek East wildfire (K21633) 

The CSRD will host a live Wildfire Information Briefing on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 2 PM. To view the video, please visit the CSRD’s YouTube Channel.

Access Permit

Due to ongoing safety concerns and active fire conditions, BC Wildfire Service has advised the CSRD to suspend the issuance of temporary access permits for the North Shuswap at this time. BC Wildfire has designated the area as unsafe for travel.

Temporary access permits may be issued for the Sorrento area, if the area remains safe for public access. For more information, call 250-833-3397 or email [email protected] for more information.

Donations
 
For those looking to donate, please call the CSRD at 250-833-3396 to coordinate arrangements. 

 Livestock Assistance

 In the event you are evacuated from your property and require assistance with livestock such as water fills, or if you can provide shelter for livestock, please contact the CSRD Agricultural Line at the Emergency Operations Centre: 250-833-3399.

 This is the last public update of the evening, unless the situation changes dramatically.
