What do I need to know if I am located east of the Evacuation Alert area in communities like Celista, Magna Bay, Anglemont, St. Ives and Seymour Arm?
At this time, there is no expectation that the Evacuation Alert area will grow beyond the current boundaries of Lee Creek, Scotch Creek and the affected addresses on Meadow Creek Road.
However, we understand these Evacuation Alerts are affecting the entire North Shuswap, and those residents want to know what to do.
Should those current Evacuation Alerts turn into Evacuation Orders, here is some information to consider.
- You may be asked to shelter-in-place for up to 72 hours. Shelter-in-place means finding a safe location indoors and staying there until you are given an “All Clear.”
- During an evacuation, the Squilax-Anglemont Road will likely be closed to incoming traffic to allow for people to evacuate.
- Once the area is clear and if there is no fire making the road unsafe, the Squilax-Anglemont Road will be re-opened to allow through traffic.
- If there is a situation where this road will be closed, the CSRD will be communicating alternate transportation routes through its website and social media.
