Shuswap Emergency Program update August 13, 2023 at 10:30 AM
The Shuswap Emergency Program was pleased to welcome back many evacuees at the Adams Lake Ferry Terminal yesterday. Residents remain on Evacuation Alert status and may need to leave again on short notice.
The area to the south of the Adams Lake Ferry Terminal, which is the jurisdiction of the Adams Lake Indian Band, remains on Evacuation Order. Residents of that area will not be allowed to return to their homes as the fire risk remains too great.
- Crews are patrolling and mopping up along the northern portion of Rawson Road.
- A fuel-free guard is continuing to be constructed along Rock Bluff and on the east side of Nikwikwaia Creek.
- Danger tree assessors and fallers continue to support crews and heavy equipment.
- Hot, dry weather and forecasted afternoon winds may increase fire behaviour and smoke.
This will be the only Shuswap Emergency Program update of the day unless the situation changes significantly.
