A wildfire start on Angle Mountain in the North Shuswap across from the Shuswap Lake Narrows has now been classified as Being Held by BC Wildfire. That status indicates the wildfire is not likely to spread beyond its predetermined boundaries under current conditions.
Both fires are believed to have started from lightning strikes from the thunderstorm activity on August 9. These fires can crop up as the conditions warm up and dry out.
A helicopter is also available in the region for bucketing as needed. Initial attack on all new fire starts is one of BC Wildfire's top priorities.
