Yesterday’s storm caused several lightning-caused spot-sized fires in Electoral Area E including Crazy Creek, North Fork Forest Service Road, West Anstey Arm, Yard Creek, Yard Creek South and Owlhead Forest Service Roads 1 & 2.
The BC Wildfire Service sent multiple fire crews to the area, along with two helicopters to fight the fires, and have now marked the West Anstey Arm and Yard Creek fires as under control. Work continues to extinguish the remaining small fires. None of these fires are currently threatening any structures.
In Electoral Area D, progress has been made on the Bolean Lake Road fire. It is now classified as being held, so it is unlikely to spread under current conditions. The cause of that fire remains under investigation.
The Shuswap Emergency Program is receiving updates from BC Wildfire Service and will provide information on any fires that may be a threat to public safety.
For updated information on the status of these fires, go to the BC Wildfire Interactive Mapping.
