The General Local Elections will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Polls will be open from 8 AM to 8 PM.
Voters will be able to vote by mail using a Mail Ballot Request Form, at Advance Polls on October 5, 2022, or on General Voting Day. See more details below.
Qualified electors in four Electoral Areas (EAs) within the Columbia Shuswap Regional District will elect one person to the position of Director for a four-year mandate, ending in October of 2026. The CSRD is also conducting a referendum vote on the proposed Indoor Aquatic Centre for eligible voters in Electoral Area A and the Town of Golden.
Who is running for election?
There will be elections in Electoral Areas C, D, E, and F. View the Candidates for Election page to find out who is running in your area.
Electoral Areas A, B and G had only one candidate nominated, so these candidates have now been declared elected by acclamation:
- Karen Cathcart - Electoral Area A (Rural Golden)
- David Brooks-Hill - Electoral Area B (Rural Revelstoke)
- Natalya Melnychuk - Electoral Area G (Blind Bay, Sorrento, Notch Hill)
There is a single assent vote (referendum) being run regarding the proposed development of an indoor Aquatics Centre in Golden. Only residents of Electoral Area A and Golden can vote in this referendum because those are the only areas that would be paying for the new facility.
New Electoral Area
This election will mark the addition of a new Electoral Area that is the result of splitting Electoral Area C into two separate areas. The new Electoral Area G will be comprised of the communities of Sorrento, Blind Bay and Notch Hill.
