In December of 2012, the CSRD Board of Directors voted to amend the Noxious Weed Control (Enforcement) Program Extended Service Bylaw No. 5110 to allow for broadened invasive plant activities such as strategic planning and prioritization, education and awareness, landowner support, outreach and incentives and inventory, as well as maintaining its current ability for compliance and enforcement. Furthermore, the Board voted in favour of supporting a non-profit society for invasive plant management within the regional district. The expanded program will be delivered through the non-profit society. The CSRD, along with other stakeholders, will contribute funding to the non-profit society for delivery of its annual activities. The society will be required to provide annual updates on its activities and expenditures relating to the Regional District invasive plant management program. The CSRD Noxious Weed Committee was dissolved as of December 31, 2012.
