Are You Involved

Want to give back to your community, make a difference to people affected by disaster, develop new skills and meet new people?

As a volunteer with SEP you will be helping to make the Shuswap and area safer, stronger and better prepared for any future emergency or disaster incident.

SEP
volunteers and associated services assist their communities in many ways.  You can meet and greet, care for pets, learn about amateur radio, provide emotional support, run messages and much more.  It takes the efforts of many to ensure that, if an emergency occurs, there is someone to respond.

Volunteers receive free training in disaster preparedness, team organization, emergency evacuation, situational leadership, emergency planning, media crisis communication not to mention numerous seminars introducing the basic principles of the Incident Command System and the Emergency Operation Centre.  And, because the training courses are scheduled throughout the year, you can train at your own pace.

Plus, volunteers can join the Amateur Radio Group and learn short-wave radio communication skills.  Or become involved in special projects, like helping out with public information displays, coordinating neighborhood meetings, recruiting for volunteers, providing translation services or essential services at a reception centre during an emergency or disaster.  You can volunteer for as little as a few days a year.  Or, make it a regular part of your monthly activities.

VOLUNTEERS are essential and often critical for the success of a community Emergency Program.

SEP is always looking for volunteers to assist in various capacities depending on experience and availability.
