The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) Fireworks/Firecrackers Regulation Bylaws are specific to fireworks and firecrackers. These Bylaws prohibit the sale of fireworks and firecrackers and control the possession, use and discharge of fireworks within Electoral Areas C, E, and F.
Before discharging or setting off any fireworks within Electoral Areas C, E, and F you require a valid Fireworks Permit. Fireworks may only be used, set off or discharged for a Special Public Function and only with a permit as authorized by the CSRD Fire Services Coordinator. Anyone found setting off fireworks without a permit may be fined $200 and/or and may be subject to formal enforcement proceedings for each incident. Failure to comply with the terms of the Fireworks Permit is also subject to fine and/or formal enforcement proceedings.
The CSRD understands the entertainment value for families of consumer type fireworks. By controlling the times, places, and safety issues surrounding the discharging or setting off of these fireworks and educating the untrained individual, we believe that both this tradition, and the safety of the community, can be greatly enhanced.
