The Skimikin Transfer Station has been closed for the remainder of today, Tuesday, April 10, 2018, as a precautionary measure due to a strong chemical odor detected in one of the refuse transfer bins. It has been determined that a can of discarded bear spray was punctured and discharged in the bin.
Users can access the Salmon Arm Refuse Disposal Site as an alternative option. The CSRD regrets any incovenience this closure may have caused and expects the site will fully reopen on Friday April 13, 2018 for its regular hours of operation.
Please check the CSRD website to determine how to properly dispose of hazardous materials such as bear spray.
